Parents and health workers are being praised for achieving a 100% vaccination rate for Aboriginal children at age 12 months and again at five years in the south of the state.

Southern NSW Local Health District acting chief executive, Jude Constable says the June quarter immunisation rates show a remarkable uptake among aboriginal children in the district.

Ms Constable has attributed the high immunisation success to local strategies including working with GPs, community nurses and families.

She says this has encouraged on-time and catch up vaccination for those overdue.

Southern NSW Health says non-Aboriginal children are also achieving solid results with more than 95 per cent immunisation rate.
