The facility and development of Goulburn's North Park sporting area is receiving the attention of council with the decision to institute a Plan of Management for the area.

Goulburn Junior Rugby League has written to council asking it to develop a long term improvement strategy so that North park can become a premier junior league venue.

A report to council stated that the current infrastructure on site is reaching the end of its useful life and will need some form of upgrade in the short to medium term.

Councillors have been told that the best way to proceed is to have a plan of management which would consider input from all stakeholders to ensure current and future needs are addressed.

A working party is being formed to represent junior league and cricket along with a Sports council rep and a council staff member.

The mayor, Bob Kirk and councillors Peter Walker and Margaret O'Neill are also members.
