A federal government allocation of $1.5 million for youth mental health services in Yass has been welcomed by Grand Pacific Health.

This is the lead agency for Headspace in the southern area, including Goulburn and Bega.

GPH CEO, Ron de Jonge says a number of young people and their families drive to Headspace Goulburn to access services.

Mr de Jonge says there is a lot of unmet need in the area and there have been meetings with federal candidates in the lead-up to the election to see what can be done.

Headspace is a free health service for young people aged 12 to 25 and the allocation of federal monies will allow a satellite service to be established in Yass.
