The nine people arrested at the Goulburn abattoir yesterday appear in the local court next month.

It is believed their presence at the local worksite was part of a nationally co-ordinated campaign by animal activists.

It is further believed that they belong to an organisation which goes by the name Legion DX.

All nine have been charged with trespass and hindering police with three also charged with resisting arrest.

These latter charges relate to the individuals allegedly refusing to walk to a police conveyance, thereby having to be carried by officers.

All are from Sydney, except a 61 year old woman who is from Canberra.

They will appear in the Goulburn court across three sittings next month, on the15th, 22nd and 29th.
