Goulburn Mulwaree council will undertake an investigation into the future of land currently used to irrigate the city's effluent.

The council owns about fifteen hundred acres off Gorman and Murray's Flat roads, but when the new wastewater treatment plant is completed in 2018. this land will not be used.

This week's meeting of council accepted a recommendation to prepare a planning proposal for rezoning of the land with a view to obtaining gateway approval from the Planning department.

Council General manager, Warrick Bennett says there is a number of worthwhile suggestions for using the land.
